IMPROVEMENTS

  • Profit adjustment is now available on the vessel overview analysis. After selecting a vessel, a period can be selected to show all voyages and TCs for this period. However sometimes the start and end dates do not match with the voyage dates. For this case users now have the option to select whether full voyage profits shall be considered or if the profits should be adjusted according to the selected period via the TCE. This allows for more precise accounting of e.g. quarterly or annual results.

Voyage Detail Analysis

  • A new analysis has been added for analysing changes of a selected voyage in detail.
  • Voyages are shown as comparison between estimate and actual where the estimate can be selected allowing a comparison between different states of the voyage.
  • The data is shown hierarchically allowing a drill down into the details of the voyage data.
  • For context of the changes within a voyage, the remarks are shown in the sidebar, also allowing further commenting on voyage related topics or causes for the changes.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Voyages and Time Charters in the analysis are now linking to their respective detail pages.
  • The period selection has been extended to include a custom range that can be set with start date and end date.

BUG FIXES

  • In some cases the status shown in the vessel overview analysis was showing the previous status instead of the current status. This has been fixed.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • On the voyage and operations page a data table for additional AIS Information has been added to provide a better overview of the current state of the vessel.
  • The analysis page now only includes voyages that have been handed over to operations. Voyage calculations will not be included anymore.

BUG FIXES

  • Under certain circumstance a port call from previous TC could not be found in the voyage calculation and could therefore not be included in the distance and duration calculation. This has been fixed.
  • For items in Time Charter hire periods, the entered amount was displayed without decimal places by default. This has been corrected to always display two decimal places, even if none have been entered by the user.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Following announcement by the European Central Bank has been published. Therefore there are not automatic exchange rates available for the time being:

Owing to current trading activity in the EUR/RUB market, the European Central Bank (ECB) is not in a position to set a reference rate that is representative of prevailing market conditions. The ECB has therefore decided to suspend its publication of a euro reference rate for the Russian rouble until further notice. The ECB last published a EUR/RUB reference rate on 1 March 2022.

Basic Voyage Summary

  • Admins now have access to a new module Analysis where an initial analysis along with upcoming analysis can be found.
  • The initial analysis gives access to commercial information for vessel summarizing voyage and time charter data for specified periods of time.
  • The data can be filtered and sorted extensively as well as exported for further processing in your tools of choice.

BUG FIXES

  • Users with the Role "Operator" were not able to perform certain actions. This has been rectified.

  • Admins can now give more specific roles to users.
  • The first implementation of this is for the accounting team to get read only rights for the main part of the system giving edit rights only for Invoicing purposes.

BUG FIXES

  • When a Time Charter, that is still ongoing and without redelivery ROBs, is selected as a previous Charter for a voyage the estimated ROBs in the voyage where calculated on First In First Out basis. If no redelivery ROBs existed it used the delivery ROBs as starting point leading to unexpected results. Now the estimated ROBs in a voyage start off at 0 until redelivery ROBs have been entered.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a bug that would show different bunker expenses in Firefox.
  • Under some circumstance a port call could not be deleted anymore in operations.
  • When revising a voyage in operations and adding a new cargo, the port calls for the new cargo were inserted in the past. They are now added towards the end of a voyage instead.
  • The activity log showed some unreadable information. This has been cleared up.
  • Currency items that use a currency different than the base currency now display the equivilant value in the base currency and the applied exchange rate.
  • The fuel log did not show any values if a vessel hat Bunker entries without a price. This has been fixed.
  • The operations snapshot printout was showing changes in commission as green when they were negative. This has been fixed.
  • The operations snapshot printout was showing expense values without the negative sign. This was amended.
  • The operations snapshot did not show the correct sum of costs which has been fixed as well.

Previous Charter

  • When creating voyages or time charters it is now possible to select either one as a previous charter allowing easier change over of vessels between time charter and voyage charter.
  • Respective fuel calculations also take the ROBs of either charter type into consideration when vessels switch between the different charter types.
  • Delivery and Redelivery port calls are also referenced in voyages if they are entered for a time charter making it unnecessary to enter the port call in the voyage manually.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • All monetary calculations where rounding is necessary now do so in accordance with standard commercial practice.

BUG FIXES

  • Sometimes the working and idle time were displayed as "0" even if a port duration existed and was calculated. This has been fixed.
  • A bug was fixed where the ETAs where not updating in the voyage calculation when the idle time for a port call was changed.
  • Remarks on the voyage page were sometimes not immediately updated after sending them. This has been resolved.
  • The currency for the calculated sum for Demurrage or Despatch in the port call window has been added.
  • Under some circumstances the sum of estimated port costs for a port call was displayed as "0" even if port costs existed and were correctly calculated.
  • When updating a client the edit window would not close sometimes. This has been resolved.

Voyage planning

  • Voyages that have been handed over to operations already can now be revised.
  • On the voyage page click on "revise" to return to the estimation interface.
  • You can now add cargoes and continue calculate the voyage even after it started.
  • Other changes, such as changing the voyage name, are also possible.
  • After all changes are completed, the voyage can be handded over back to operations.
  • All previous data remain saved in the snapshots and can be used as basis for the comparison between the estimated values and actual values in the voyage summary in operations.
  • All changes will also be recorded in the snapshot/print view.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • We added a warning if the bunker date is not matching with the port dates of a vessel as incorrect dates can lead to incorrect results for the FIFO calculation of the bunker expenses.

BUG FIXES

  • A bug was fixed where the print view of voyages remained empty under certain circumstances.

Remarks - 💬

  • You can now write remarks at all relevant places in Charter.Works.
  • The Remarks can be seen by all users and everything can be attributed to the author and time of writing so you know who wrote what and when.
  • Remarks are being displayed when they are relevant e.g. remarks for a port call will be shown in the voyage and operations pages when the respective port call is the current or upcoming port of call in the schedule.
  • In Time Charter, the remarks for the current Hire Period are shown to ensure no information is missed, while the remarks for all other periods are grouped and minimized.
  • Small speech bubbles indicate in some places if there are remarks. The remarks can be seen by hovering and new remarks can be added by clicking the speech bubble.

BUG FIXES

  • In some cases exchange rates via API were inserted as duplicates leading to an error when selecting an exchange rate the corresponding date. This has been fixed.
  • Under certain circumstances not all vessels were available in the ship select on the voyage page. Now all vessels are available again.
  • A rounding error caused demurrage to have small differences between the calculation and the inserted amount in invoices.
  • For certain screensizes the sidebar with the Activity log was blank and now correctly shows the content.
  • The First in First out calculation did not reset when entering "0" as an ROB value at a port call. This is now fixed.
  • A small bug was resolved, that prevented icons to be loaded.

Invoicing

  • We have added a new module and related functions for invoicing to Charter.Works.
  • You can now create invoices for incomes that have been calculated in voyages or time charters without the need to re-enter items for invoicing.
  • The created invoices are referenced in the same place allowing for a good overview of your invoices, their status and if any payments have been received.
  • In the invoice module all invoices can be found. Filters and search help to find what you're looking for.
  • Custom invoices can also be created that have no specific relation to anything in the system but contain any manual references and remarks.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • We have added a warning to money input fields if there is no exchange rate available for the selected exchange rate date to clarify if some input is not converted due to the missing exchange rate.
  • We have added route options for Oresund and the Northeastpassage to provide more flexibility in your voyage planning.

Basic Filter

  • We have added some basic filter options as a first step to help you find your data more easily.
  • To accomodate the filter options, the application layout has been adapted to use the sidebar and give you more space to work on.
  • List overviews have options to filter the data by different criteria.
    • When a filter is selected the search function is limited to the filtered subset of data allowing you to combine filters and searches.
  • Detail pages have references for navigation to related or similar data.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • We have updated the way dates and times can be entered in date input fields if you prefer quick typing over the date picker. Now there are more accepted formats as follows:

    • DDMMYY
    • DDMMYYYY
    • DDMMYY hhmm [space] between date and time
    • DDMMYYYY hhmm [space] between date and time

  • For the Bunker cost calculation, the First in First out method has been adapted to consider all bunkerings from past voyages regardless how long ago they happened.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a bug where the calculated gross freight did not immediately update in a voyage calculation if the cargo quantity was changed in the cargo view.
  • After creating a new cargo in a voyage the port calls sometimes only loaded after a refresh. This has been fixed.

Currency Management

  • Management and configuration of currencies and exchange rates has been centralized to make dealing with exchange rates simpler and more reliable.
  • Admins can now configure the exchange rates under Currencies and set periods of validity.

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Hire periods in the Time Charter Module now have an indicator showing in which status the individual periods are.
